George W. Bush was the worst president in my lifetime, and one of the worst in history. He’s one of three presidents I judge a complete failure, the other two being James Buchanan and Woodrow Wilson. Writing up this piece made me feel a bit soiled.
Bush was unlike any Republican before him: a neoconservative in foreign intervention, a flaming liberal in domestic spending, and a “compassionate conservative” in social policy. All of these are to his everlasting shame. Join me, if you dare, in reliving the first eight years of the new millennium.
