When Art was a child, his teachers often noticed his knack for creative thinking and his ability to express himself. (“Art” is a real person, and his story is used with permission, though his name has been changed.) Though he didn’t particularly enjoy writing assignments early on, he received strong grades and encouragement from these teachers. He chose engineering as a major when he went to college, largely due to the advice from his uncle — an engineer himself — that the career outlook was very bright in that field.
